Have you detoxed your body lately? There are so many ways for you to rid your body of everything that isn’t meant for it, and the clean beauty industry has made it clear that it wants to play the biggest part in your detox regimen. Did you know that beauty products that aren’t natural + organic are filled with toxins like parabens, phthalates, and sulfates to oxybenzone, triclosan, hydroquinone, and artificial fragrances? Even skincare products marked for “sensitive skin,” only fix the short term effects, but what are these products doing to us long term?

“Products are tested to make sure they don’t cause short-term problems, such as skin irritation. But they’re not tested for long-term safety,” says Dr. Kathryn M. Rexrode, associate professor of medicine and chief of the Division of Women’s Health at Harvard Medical School, so what does that leave us to do? Find clean beauty alternatives and detox the body of all the toxins you’ve been feeding it. One of the most beneficial ways to detox is by using one of our Clearlight Infrared Saunas®. If it isn’t obvious yet, we’re big proponents of living a toxin free lifestyle, and we’re able to help you rid your body of the nasty stuff we hate so much.

Why is this so important for us to introduce infrared saunas to our studios? We believe in being healthy in body and strong in spirit (3 John 1:2), and in order to live out what we believe, we want to provide our guests with every avenue of doing so. From air ionizers for the cleanest air possible to the comfiest chairs you’ll ever sit in, we’ve got you covered, but let’s talk about this sauna for a second.

What’s the Infrared Sauna Difference?

We’re sure you’ve probably heard of a sauna before, but at freecoat, we use Clearlight Infrared Saunas®. Note: The main difference between infrared and traditional saunas is how they use heat. Infrared saunas usually operate between 115° – 135°F, while traditional saunas can get up to 195°F. Why? Traditional saunas use a single heater that is heating the air, while infrared saunas use advanced therapy to promote heat generation in the body with only a small percentage of the heat heating the air. This results in a deeper sweat at a lower ambient air temperature, resulting in even more benefits at a far more comfortable temperature.

Tell Me All About the Benefits

Let’s be real, life is tough. We all need a little bit of help along the way and one easy way to start implementing some self-love is by using our infrared sauna regularly. The infrared sauna can help with the obvious detoxification, but it also helps with reduced inflammation, pain relief, wound healing, increased range of motion + flexibility, improved circulation, Seasonal Affective Disorder, improve sleep patterns, reduced stress, healthier skin for that beautiful natural glow, anti-aging, age spots, acne + scar reduction, wrinkle reduction of crow’s feet, stimulated collagen + elastin, decreased hair loss, improved varicose veins, and more.

One of the leading ladies in the infrared sauna industry, Katie Kaps, cofounder + Co-CEO of HigherDOSE, said, “Because infrared heat penetrates human tissue versus simply heating the surface of the skin, infrared saunas are seven times more effective than traditional saunas at detoxifying the body. By raising the body’s core temperature, infrared saunas can produce a sweat composed of 20 percent toxins versus only 3 percent toxins with a traditional sauna.” The list is endless when you think about the lifelong benefits just from weekly or monthly use.

Let’s Talk Salt Therapy

An upgrade to your self-love regimen is adding salt therapy to your infrared sauna session. Salt therapy, also known as halotherapy, is a natural remedy that involves breathing in dry salt particles. Salt therapy purifies the air through ionization, and the list of health benefits makes us want to run to one of our studios, like now. The benefits include aid in treatment of a few conditions like asthma, chronic bronchitis, respiratory issues, breathlessness, chest tightness, tonsillitis, laryngitis, COPD, cystic fibrosis, colds, ear infections, sinus infections, allergies, allergies, hay fever, snoring, sleep apnea, insomnia, depression, seasonal affective disorder, psoriasis, eczema, acne, rosacea, dry skin, and rashes. Salt therapy is unique in the industry and we took the steps we saw necessary to offer the best of the best for our guests. Salt therapy is not often found in traditional sauna studios, so this was an add-on we just couldn’t leave out.
